The proponent, Amalgamated Property Group, is developing Stage 3 of The Oaks precinct on Irving Street in Phillip. The final building within this precinct is proposed to be Canberra’s first true build to rent project which aims to deliver high quality, secure and well considered apartments, with amenities and living spaces that recognise the needs of modern renters.
The proposed 16 storey development is anticipated to include 160 units with two levels of basement car parking. The development will include ample facilities for the long term residents of the development including communal gardens, rooftop facilities, a wellness centre, a business centre, breakout zones and also indoor/outdoor dining areas designed to promote the community. Access to the communal areas of the Oaks Community Scheme including the large common green, will also be available to the residents.
The project seeks to establish a build to rent development as a distinct and unique offering within the Local and National market. The development aspires to cater for a growing demand of households for different types of accommodation, as well as helping to solve the housing affordability problems facing some ACT residents.
As part of the preparation of a Development Application, Amalgamated Property Group, is undertaking a program of community consultation to engage with the neighbouring community and key stakeholders.
Amalgamated is targeting the development to be constructed as soon as the relevant approvals are obtained.
